Healing through music

Project Simple Shelter

Free music workshops for children and young adults in underserved communities. Together they write an original song, film it as a music video, and watch themselves shine.

How a workshop works

Four steps, from first note to finished video. More about workshops →

  1. Two children trying a guitar and a tambourine
    1

    Pick up an instrument

Joshua introduces the group to musical instruments. No experience needed.

  2. Three young people writing a song in a notebook
    2

    Write a song together

The group writes an original song, side by side, from the first idea to the last line.

  3. A camera filming two teens performing
    3

    Film the music video

Participants are filmed as they craft and perform their song. Then the footage is professionally edited.

  4. A group cheering at their music video on a screen
    4

    Watch it together

Everyone gathers to watch the finished video and see themselves shine.

Free to take part

PSS workshops are free for every participant. Music should be open to everyone, especially where creative outlets are hard to find.
